    In my opinion, John Prine is one of the great story tellers -- like Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, et al -- of his time. His songs (or stories) are persuasive, deeply appealing to our emotional sides. I believe "Common Sense" was John's 4th album, if memory serves -- features songs like Common Sense (Title), Way Down and You Never Can Tell/5(51).

The son of William Prine and Verna Hamm, his grandfather had played guitar with Merle Travis and he started playing guitar himself at 14 years old.
